The range
The sleeper maintains the track gauge, transfers the load of the vehicles into the ballast bed and largely determines how long a track can remain in service. Which material is the right one depends on the load, installation situation, subgrade and budget.
We supply concrete, timber, plastic and steel track, switch and bridge sleepers, both new and reconditioned. And we process them: in Marl-Sinsen, a sleeper milling machine, a planing and drilling unit and a plate-fastening facility are available for this purpose.
According to the installation location, we distinguish between three types of threshold. Each is available in all four materials.
For the continuous through track.
In the different lengths of a switch assembly.
For bridge structures, if requested, processed according to milling and planning schedules.
The concrete sleeper is the standard sleeper in modern track layout. Its high dead weight ensures very good positional stability, it is low-maintenance and achieves a long service life. It is used predominantly in continuous track with high loads.
We supply concrete sleepers, new and used, as track and switch sleepers, in all dimensions and types.
Below these, the prestressed concrete sleeper types common in the Deutsche Bahn network, ranging from the B 70 W and B 90 W to the newer B 01 and B 07, as well as the wide sleeper BBS 1.
The wooden sleeper is the classic choice in track superstructure and has the advantage where elasticity is required, where special lengths are needed, or where individual sleepers are being replaced in existing tracks. It is easy to work with, comparatively lightweight, and forgives irregularities in the subgrade.
Wood is also the material with which our company started back in 1929.
We supply new wooden sleepers both treated and untreated, and we recondition used sleepers in Marl-Sinsen: milling, drilling, and plating.
Under our Belgian contract in Leuze-en-Hainaut, wage impregnation is carried out in accordance with DIN 68811 and DIN 68800 using modern impregnating oils and protective salts.

Plastic sleepers combine the workability and low weight of the wooden sleeper with a very long service life. They are impervious to moisture, fungal decay and insect infestation, and can be sawn, drilled and milled just like wood.
They are especially interesting as bridge sleepers, in switch areas and wherever changing sleepers would be complex or expensive.
We supply plastic sleepers for tracks, switches, and bridges and keep them in stock in Marl-Sinsen.

The weights are pre-assembled guide values; in case of doubt, the regulations and approved drawings of DB InfraGO AG shall apply.
Steel sleepers are primarily used in industrial and private sidings, as well as in mining and industrial railways. They are fully recyclable, have a compact installation volume and are easy to readjust.
