At our site Herne — a shared location with REMONDIS — we sort wooden sleepers and fastening materials, and operate an automated, protective-ventilated adze plant for old sleepers:

• Advice on all waste disposal matters
• Execution of official disposal procedure documentation
• Preparation of the proper disposal documentation
• Coordinating and carrying out waste transport by lorry and railcar
• Flattening of the old sleepers by means of our automated, ventilated flattening plant with protective ventilation
• Production of biomass woodchips from tar-oil-impregnated wooden sleepers

A note on the flattening plant: Our facility in Herne is a prototype that we developed ourselves. It operates automatically and with protective ventilation to ensure that our employees do not come into contact with the impregnated wood during planing. When handling old sleepers, this is not a secondary aspect, but the crucial point.
