The range
At the end of a track is the buffer stop. It limits the route, catches incoming vehicles and prevents worse in an emergency. Buffer stops are safety devices in addition to the vehicle brakes: the buffer plates must match the vehicles, and the overall design must suit the local conditions.
We are a sales partner of Klose GmbH based in Mettingen and supply new and used track bumpers, primarily of the Klose design. The patented buffer stop designs from Klose GmbH have been tested by DB AG in accordance with current guidelines and approved by the Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt), manufactured in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001. They are suitable for mainline railways and light rail systems in accordance with EBO, EBOA and BOStrab.
Energy-absorbing designs are mainly in use because they absorb the kinetic energy of approaching vehicles, ranging from heavy-duty traffic to light rail. The standardised product ranges cover the common application cases.
Special designs complement the range: for elevated workshop and inspection pit tracks, for heavy traffic with axle loads of up to 48 tonnes, for curved tracks, as well as lowerable and drive-over versions. In addition, there are braking distance cover plates for passenger stations.
Standard buffer stop for DB AG.
Execution among others for ÖBB and Banedanmark.
In use, amongst other places, by the Italian railways (RFI) and at Frankfurt (Main) central station.
For heavy freight trains and metro systems.
For light rail, metros and trains with central couplers or centre buffers, including narrow-gauge.
Where no braking distances are required, fixed buffer stops are used. Special designs even extend to historical styles.
Standard type with hydraulic buffer device.
Standard type with mechanical buffer device.
For depots, stabling yards and shunting areas, we supply:
For crane installations of all types, we supply crane runway buffers: loading points, ports, factory halls and restricted installation situations.
Versions with cellular buffers, hydraulic buffers, long-stroke buffers, and without buffer equipment are available, as well as designs for clamping to the crane rail and versions with storm locking devices. Klose develops special designs for specific applications on request.
The SCS, Safety and Control System, continuously and centrally monitors track ends. It displays the operational installation status and immediately reports if a track end has been displaced by a derailment or impact, optionally to mobile devices, a computer, or as a visual signal.
From the initial measurements to the declaration of conformity, track closure remains entirely in our hands.
